To say that I am excited to be back in the United States next week is quite an understatement. Although I had the opportunity to head home about a month ago, I wanted to stay a little while longer. That doesn’t mean that I don’t miss everyone back home dearly, but I wanted to spend quality time with the new friends that I have made over the last 18 months. It also gave me a chance to visit Uzbekistan, a neighboring country decorated with historical monuments and beauty. Below are only a few photos from my recent adventures.
In life, I believe we are given a choice. Many choices, actually. Although we don’t always have the power to control each and every adversity that lands in our lap, we have the power to choose the footprint that we leave behind.
Sometimes, I think we believe that changing the world requires a large movement. A monumental shift of influence either for the better or worse, but everything great starts as a droplet. A droplet that becomes a ripple, and a ripple that becomes a wave.
For every individual or family that brought me into their home, fed me, and sent me on my way with generous bags of food. For every time someone gifted me a small token of what they could afford, for no reason at all. For every time someone’s smile made me feel so loved, so cared for, so important. For every pick up soccer game that was played with so much joy and spirit despite terrible field conditions. For every time someone has shown me what it truly means to be kind, selfless, and caring. These little, every day acts of pure love, these little footprints are what’s going to keep changing the world for the better.
